ADU KITCHEN installation

Garage-to-Kitchen ADU Conversion in Corvallis, Oregon

Matteson Contracting completed a full garage-to-kitchen conversion for a homeowner in Corvallis, Oregon, turning an already-sheetrocked garage into a functional, ADU-ready kitchen space. This project is a great example of the kind of garage conversion and accessory dwelling unit (ADU) buildout work we take on throughout the Mid-Willamette Valley, including Corvallis, Albany, Lebanon, Salem, and Eugene.

Project scope

The homeowner wanted a complete kitchen installed in the garage space, appliances and all. Matteson Contracting managed every phase of the build:

• Ordered and installed a full run of kitchen cabinetry • Designed and hand-built a custom solid birch butcher block countertop, fitted to the space • Installed new kitchen appliances — refrigerator, electric range, and microwave • Removed an existing exterior door to open up the floor plan and increase usable interior square footage • Framed and sheetrocked the former door opening • Installed matching exterior siding over the old doorway so the change is invisible from outside

Why this matters for ADU and garage conversion projects

Garage conversions are one of the most cost-effective ways to add livable, functional square footage to a Corvallis-area home — whether the goal is a full ADU, a mother-in-law suite, or simply a second kitchen. This project shows the level of craftsmanship that goes into these builds: custom cabinetry and countertops built to fit the space exactly, appliances properly installed, and exterior finish work matched seamlessly so the home’s curb appeal isn’t compromised.
